Our people

The dedicated animal care team at Mount Noddy are passionate about animal welfare, they love and care for every dog and cat as if it were their own at Mount Noddy.

Together with our staff, foster carers and volunteers are an integral part of the Mount Noddy family, giving our centres and our animals the gift of their time and knowledge and enabling our charity to aspire to even greater things. We could not exist without them.

su botherway

Animal Centre Manager

Su started at Mount Noddy in August 2018 after previously managing London RSPCA branches. She has a degree in Animal Behaviour Science and over 10 years experience in the animal welfare sector. She rescued Woody a bullterrier cross, and Molly a three legged cat from the RSPCA.

kirsty watling

Animal Operations Manager

Kirsty has a diploma in animal welfare has been working at Mount Noddy for over 10 years and is now the Animal Operations Manager. Kirsty leads the team in providing excellent animal welfare for all residents at the centre. Kirsty is passionate about making the dogs and cats stay with us as enjoyable as possible, and likes the challenge of keeping the working breeds stimulated. She says seeing the animals go to their forever homes is the most rewarding part of her job. Kirsty has previously worked with exotic animals and enjoys downhill mountain biking in her spare time.

sarah carden

Behaviour and Welfare Advisor

Sarah started as an Animal Care Assistant in the summer of 2017, and became the Animal Behaviour and Welfare Advisor in September 2019. Sarah leads the assessing of the dogs and cats and monitors their behaviour and welfare. Sarah loves to see the progress the dogs make while they are with us, gaining confidence and learning to trust again is the most rewarding part of her job. Sarah is now accredited with PACT and runs our Noddy’s Life Skills for Puppies classes.

Shel Cash

Cattery Supervisor

Shel joined the team in 2016. Having been brought up around lots of foster cats,
she has always had a passion for rehabilitating and rehoming those in need.
When not at work she can be found at home with her 2 rescue cats and cooking roast dinners.

ellie hills

Kennel Supervisor

Ellie joined us in the Summer of 2022. Ellie has an MSc in Applied Zoo Biology and has published a paper in relation to corn snake captive care and welfare. She has a menagerie of reptiles at home, and her spare time is pretty much always animal related from doing bat surveys to conferences and studies. Her real interest lies in rehabilitation and seeing that positive progression as well as exploring freedom of behaviour expression and learning about individuals.

Vicki Loose

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Vicki joined the team in April 2023 and has a BSc (hons) in Veterinary Nursing and a MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy. She thoroughly enjoys providing veterinary care for our animals during their rehabilitation programme and watching their character’s grow. The majority of her free time is spent with her horse who is full of mischief in his golden years but otherwise she’ll be exploring the south downs or on the water.

Georgia O’Brien

Animal Welfare Officer

Georgia joined as an Animal Care Assistant in 2018 and became our Animal Welfare
Officer at the beginning of 2022. She has a passion for animal welfare and legislation
and loves running our outreach programme at the centre. When not at the Centre,
Georgia loves being kept on her toes with her two Labradors Betty and Blousey.

Sam Tame

Animal Care Assistant/ Registered canine hydrotherapist

Sam joined in October 2019. She has a passion for animal anatomy and has
achieved level 4 in under water treadmill and gait analysis. She loves being part of
the rehabilitation of rescue animals, watching them grow from when they first arrive,
to their adoption. At home Sam has 5 animals, 3 dogs and 2 cats! One of which is a
Mount Noddy rescue.

Marie Faid

Animal Care Assistant/Behaviour and Welfare Adviser

Marie joined in 2019. She has a BSc (hons) in animal behaviour and has achieved her masters in clinical animal behaviour at Lincoln. She is passionate about the rehabilitation of the animals at the centre and seeing them succeed in finding their new homes. Marie also enjoys training her animals at home one of which is an ambassador dog for the Centre who loves participating at events and talks.

abi edgington

Animal Care Assistant

Abi has a BSc in Animal Behaviour and Welfare, she is a dog training enthusiast and loves seeing how different animals learn. Abi has a Doberman called Darcy who she takes on adventures when she is not working, and enjoys photography too.

katie hampshire

Animal Care Assistant

Katie first started work with us in 2018 and then left June 2022 to pursue a new venture before re-joining the team in May 2023.
She has adopted 2 cats from the centre during her time here.
She loves working closely with the animals from when they first come in; helping to build their confidence, gain their trust and to watch them go off to their forever homes, she said that this is the most rewarding part of the job.
She enjoys having cuddles with her 4 cats and her dog and also enjoys going to the gym and going for walks in the sunshine.

jess o’connor

Animal Care Assistant/Social media

Jess joined in May 2022. She enjoys spending her time outside of work taking her dog Nellie on adventures and going home to her rescue cat Norbert. When she’s not working with the animals in our care, Jess also promotes the centre through our social media platforms.

Natalie Cowen

Animal Care Assistant

Natalie joined in June 2023. Before joining the team, she worked in animal rescue
and has actually rescued a few animals herself. When she is not at work you will find
her on walks with her dog or out exploring new places.

natasha stead

Animal Care Assistant

Natasha joined in July 2023. She has a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management qualification and over 7 year’s experience working with animals with most of this time specialising in dog welfare, rehoming and assistance dog training. In her spare time outside of work she likes to keep fit by going to the gym and also enjoys going to dance classes.

Kory Sparham

Animal Care Assistant

Kory started as a volunteer and then became an official team member in July 2023. She has a qualification in animal management and has a passion working with the more nervous animals and helping them learn to trust again. Kory has her own cat called Shine and enjoys going on nature walks or spending time at the beach.

Sophie reed

Animal Care Assistant

Sophie joined in Summer 2023 after finishing her degree in zoology. Despite having
a background in exotic animals, she has a soft spot for domestics and enjoys taking
her two rescue dogs Lenny and Nell for adventures around the woods.

Sian Tunnell

Reception/Information Coordinator

Sian joined in October 2022 and loves being able to spend time with the dogs on
reception. She has a Chihuahua called Dink and a Cat called Sala.
In her spare time, she enjoys metal detecting and walks on the beach.

Reception/information coordinator

Justine joined in September 2023. Previously she had worked as Assistant Manager at our Chichester Shop. She enjoys supporting the team to be able to deliver their
amazing work to the wonderful animals in their care. In her spare time, she can be found running, dancing and walking her lovely dog, Rosie. She thinks it won’t be too
long before she acquires some new pets!
